Mission Accomplished

So Dad invited a total of 23 neighbours to a BBQ on Saturday and then sat back to watch it all happen. His three offspring gathered with partners very late Friday evening to start the deliberations of how to cater. At times it felt like we were on one of those team building weekend exercises where various situations and challenges are put before a group with a task to complete. To cut a long story short there were tensions, disagreements, leadership challenges, heated culinary debates and solid rain until half an hour before guests were to arrive.

Photographically it was a disaster - somewhere along the line, someone picked up my camera and at some point early on, the lens became smeared with grease. It was only today, after I thought far too many of the photos had sun spots on them that I looked at the lens to see what had happened! So a collage was the best I could manage from what was available. At least Dad is looking relaxed and content. And the guests appear to be enjoying themselves.
Well done for making a very pleasing collage of your BBQ despite a greasy lens! You have captured the essence of an English Summer's BBQ well.

Wow, what a day. I bet you need a lie down now. Lovely collage though.

Once again, you brought a smile to my face in reading your narrative, Helen. I am currently on my way to Toronto to attend a memorial service for my sister-in-law who passed away several weeks ago. A lot of family members will be present and already some of the planned family activities are causing tensions and debates...and that's all through email interaction, I'm a bit anxious about what will happen when we're actually all together in person.
Your family BBQ shots are wonderful and you did a fantastic job creating this collage. I especially like the top left shot...I'm assuming that's your Dad. :-)

@marshwader Thank you so much Madeleine. So frustrating to loose all the group shots with everyone in the garden together but I was happy to have been able to create this.

@onewing A lie down would have been lovely! I clearly hadn't quite adapted back to normal life today, as I forgot to go to an important meeting tonight!

@gaylewood So pleased to entertain Gayle. Now I do hope that you event in Toronto carries less of the stress and tension than you fear - perhaps it is already out of the way. It is always good to be able to have a laugh to ease the tension - we three syblings had a good laugh over the retro things on sticks which we are not sure how or why we ended up doing - especially the half olives! Yes top left is my Dad and it is a lovely one of him. I nearly posted that one on its own - but the collage gives more of a flavour of the whole event..
