Advent Windows Twenty

We have our own Christmas colour theme going on at the Embankment without any help from decorations. Traditional Christmas colours are red green and gold. Green as a reminder that spring will come and winter doesn't last forever, Red - the colour of Bishop's robes that would have been worn by St Nicholas, or Santas costume. Also the red berry as a reminder of the blood of Jesus when he died on the cross, and Gold - the colour of sun and light, and one of the presents bought to Jesus by the wise men. White is also used - associated with purity and peace, and the snow of winter. All a bit of a mix really! But I'm glad I looked up and saw a Christmas theme on this otherwise rather dull day.

How observant of you to spot these colours together and I didn't know the history of them so have learnt something new today.
