The watchful eye

I'm posting now as I have a meeting this evening - but I do hope to get some time to view your photos later.

I was out hunting for a photo opportunity (en route to errands) and most grateful to find the heron was at his favourite fishing place by the weir this afternoon. So I stood a while on the bridge and took a few photos. Or perhaps a few more than a few). At first glance, this is my favourite.
Interesting to see the stripes and the spots so close!

I just love this closeup! The way you've had the neck and beak work as lines into and through the image is terrific.

Great crop. Good title too - it's easy to miss the eye - it seems camouflaged in a way

This is something different as far as Heron photos go. It is a lovely graceful bird, but this shot displays its skills and agility.

I love this close up, especially the curves of his beak, head and neck.

I do like how you have chosen to frame and crop this photo, it really accentuates the lovely shape of the neck.

I really like the tight crop on this and the way the bird's curvy neck moves your eye through the picture frame. Great shot!
