Struggling with too many objectives has caused me frustration in my photographic exploits today, but I think I have learned some things:
Grabbing 10 minutes at the start of the day to hunt for best light conditions in the house, gather props for a selfie shot without a game plan, select glass objects for a macro shot, think in black and white, consider high key and low key, try and fulfil multiple objectives and then get to work on time, just doesn't work.
I'm not thrilled with any shots I took today, but I have read up on histograms and played with a few of today's weak offerings to see what works in terms of high and low key. I have also learned that it pays to dust objects if you are going to make them the focus of a macro shot.
I ended up with a rather flat attempt at a black and white shot in high key. It is a view of Bedford's latest multiplex cinema.
Speaking of keys. My husband found my work keys on the pavement outside our house last night. I must have dropped them in all the kafuffle about the camera.
This missed by a country mile, most of my challenge objectives that are running around my head. But, it does, just about fulfil the first of the month in flash of red February. Now I must go away and read the helpfully provided notes before attempting any more:
You continually amaze me with all the photo projects that you take on. Its admirable and you’re not afraid to try. I agree with Marloes “super nice abstract shot”
I really like this and think it's an excellent start to the month. I like the strong geometric balance between the building and sky. It's minimalistic in an architectural way. Don't sell yourself short- this was a fav for me.
excellent high key shot, helen. sometimes, the ones you prepared for don't come out as you want them to be. trust me, it happens to me all the time that is why i have a number of 3TB external drives because i rarely ever cull my photos. well, i do plan on culling them but i never get around to the task. at any rate, well done on this. great start. now on to tomorrow!
@summerfield thanks. I'm not good at categorising my photos that I keep, so culling is essential if I am ever going to find anything again. There is still plenty left though. Thanks for the encouragement - as ever.
I really like this. Not a fan of modern architecture, but it does lend itself to some really good photo opportunities. As for the challenge objectives, list them in a little notebook and if you don't manage them today, they will be sitting there waiting for tomorrow or "overmorrow" (a new old word I recently learned!)
Interesting lines and shapes. It can all get a bit of a jumble in the mind sometimes can't it? I decided this year to be more chilled out with this project and if a pic doesn't get posted on the 'right' day and hit a closing date well it doesn't really matter does it. As my week is often busy with dogs, I tend to leave my selfie image to the weekend, no work then means more time to play around with it in terms of taking it, editing it, etc. Just how I try and manage the jumble in my head.
