Leek in Layers

I picked leek for the green colour in my rainbow themed month, over on my extras album but it turned out to fit the brief of this week's 52week challenge which is in the technical category, and the topic is macro.
"Life is in the details. Get in close and show us the details we usually miss. "

Well, I have certainly never looked so closely at the fibrous concentric rings of a leek before. They rather remind me of bone structure. I have seen far more x-rays of fibrous tissue in non-union bones than is good for me, and so in part, this brings a slightly uncomfortable emotional response from me. I am nevertheless fascinated by the detail and enjoy the concentric rings.

Oh, and I do love to eat leeks. They will be on the menu with roast lamb on Easter Sunday - hopefully not these ones though!
Love this leek! How on earth did you think of snapping this?
