Gail writes a monthly historical column about the township. She is doing research currently on the Civil War soldiers from our area. We went over to Friendship Cemetery to read the inscriptions and for me to take some photos of the headstones. I knew we also had two Revolutionary War soldiers buried there also. This is one of them William Ackley who is buried next to his wife Elizabeth. Best Viewed Large

Our family tree has an Albert Acker (also a Patriot of the Revolutionary War) born in New Jersey. I wonder if the spellings are different spellings of the same family name?
@cscecil Thank you Carolyn, cemeteries are interesting places @camisze Thank you Cathy, and some have interesting sayings and stories on them @kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi, since there dates go back to the beginning of photography, I felt b&w were appropriate
@marilyn Thank you Marilyn, this is still a working cemetery, but there a lot of history here for our area @brumbe Thank you Paula, I have gone to some great cemeteries in center city Philly @grannysue Thank you Linda, we go to them a lot doing our genealogical research
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri, I felt it appropriate @mstipe Thank you Michelle, I find history intriguing @webfoot Thank you Paul, spelling was not standardized until the 20th century, we have some legal documents from the 19th where the persons name was spelled differently in different places; so it is possible.. Is your family form South Jersey?
I was born in Northern Indiana, but some early descendants are from CT and PA as well as NJ. I'm related to the McClellans from CT and PA (yeah, that McClellan from the Civil War)
NJ, I'm looking at the family tree and see Frankfort, Pepper Cotton and Sussex.
@morrist Thank you Theresa, I'm going to try some more image processing to clear up the writing @honeybees Thank you Rebecca, it is a good way to visually have a family record of ancestors @pwallis Thank you Paula, colour, at times, is overrated @beachcomber149 Thank you Norman, we try and get as many photos as possible of our ancestors
