Each year the Flagon & Trencher Society – descendants of Colonial Tavernkeepers – meets for a luncheon at an Inn, Ordinary, or Tavern in one of the original 13 colonies that was in existence before 1776. For 2018, we met in Hanover Tavern built in 1723. We were given a talk by Patrick Henry, whose father-in-law owned the tavern, on his life in the area before the Revolutionary War. After the talk – which was excellent – David Ramesy, the scribe for the society, presented Mr. Henry with an honorarium which he donated to a local historical society.
