If you ever pass through northwestern Virginia on I-77, definitely check out the Wolf Creek Indian Village and Museum in Bastian, VA. They found this buried village when they were putting in I-77 and an archeologist did a dig to collect artifacts. They used his map and info to recreate this village nearby to where it actually stood. They do not know what native tribe it was, but they think they just lived here for a few years and moved on. It's very education and quite interesting. For only $10 a person, you get a guided tour. This would be a great place to take school children.
We have something very similar to this near here. Sometimes the smaller museums really are the best "bang for the buck". Their displays look excellent.
Cool collage.
