My fuzzy little friend

Found this little wooly worm in the yard today. According to folklore, the more brown a wooly worm is, the milder the winter will be. The more black, the worse it will be. So, looks like a mild winter for us - which is a pretty safe prediction given that we live in the Southern US. Last winter was by far the worst winter we've experienced in the 5 winters we've lived here. And I'd still categorize it as rather mild.
Terrific detail on this one. I would like to have a cold winter

The Wooly Worm Festival is taking place in Banner Elk, NC this weekend. You could gather this little guy up and enter it. If it won the race, it would be this winter's predictor and would predict a fairly mild winter.

@randystreat Haha! When I looked the folklore up, it talked about that festival and the race. Too funny. Too bad that's 4 hours from us.
