Magnolia Fruit, Seeds and Bokeh

The magnolia fruits and ripening, turning pink to brown, then they will drop their bright red seeds, which are about the size of a kidney bean, except very shiny and bright red. Here you can see a few of them sticking out of a fruit that is about 4 or 5 inches long. These trees are evergreen and keep their big, waxy leaves all winter. They shed some of their leaves in the summer when they are in bloom with giant magnolia blossoms.
