011 - without doubt, the finest Victorian building in York is it's magnificent railway station, with it's huge arched roof spanning both tracks and platforms, and the whole thing on a sharp curve in the tracks. Travellers have enjoyed this magnificent building for some 135 years. The only down side today is the presence of overhead wires for the electric services which operate through here. Perhaps one day an alternative form of power will allow the wires to be removed.
Thank you Paul - we have snow in the winter up here near the arctic circle, so third rail would give power collection problems then if it had been used in this area!
Thank's Lisa - it looks even better when there is a steam train drifting through! Perhaps in the summer when the Scarborough steam service runs I'll have another go.
Although I have a few shots of the exterior, it's nowhere near as impressive as the interior - I think it's the lovely curved interior roof that makes it so attractive
Wow Ian. I'm so glad you sent the link for us to see this picture. it's amazing. fav.
like the curved tracks but that curved roof is definitely the focal point of this picture. thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you Louise - it's a marvellous building to photograph, and some of the detail in the architecture is fascinating
