018 - Clifton once had a large mental hospital, and this was it's chapel. Later it was used for many years as furniture storage by the NHS. With the closure of much of the hospital, it became the staff canteen for an insurance company, whose new offices were nearby. They have moved out, and this former chapel is now a private hospital specialising in joint surgery. The building has been altered considerably but it still maintains much of it's original attractiveness.
I did some voluntary work at that hospital when I was at school, it was quite an eye opener for me at the time. It's interesting to hear what has happened to it since.
There's very little of the original hospital left - just a fairly compact secure unit. Most of the area of the main buildings has been demolished and new office blocks constructed
Thank you Carole, the area around it has become rather delapidated - but at least the building itself has survived, and I do rather like it surrounded by trees
