020 - I must confess I have a weakness for maps. I own quite a lot, and spend hours studying them - and there are excellent online maps, with old Ordnance Survey maps back to around the 1850s available to view. This was the only map I have which showed Preston, so even though it's rather dated we took it on our trip to Preston yesterday. So what's changed since the map was produced? Some of the railways have closed, there is an inner bypass, and the housing has spread considerably. But the structure of the city remains much the same, and it was fascinating comparing then with now. And the map may be dated, but it is still a work of art.
We have a website in the UK with old Ordnance survey maps back to about 1850, and I spend lots of time just browsing - you might find it interesting

When my daughter was living in a house near the centre of Lancaster we were able to use this website to trace the transformation of that area of the city from farmland to urban.
