176 - After what feels like weeks of grey sky and rain, the sun finally came out, and it really has been a 'good to be alive day'!
This shot was taken in Queen Street, York, and shows the westernmost corner of the city walls where they turn south-east towards the entrance to the medieval city at Micklegate Bar.
You wouldn't believe how long I had to wait to get a clear shot here - there is almost always a long queue of traffic streaming past here, but my patience was eventually rewarded!
I love the blue sky! :) The wall is amazing! It's still so hard for me to comprehend how old it is and how long it has survived! Fantastic! In the US, we have nothing like it.
Thank you Bob - you are certainly right about patience. With all the traffic and all the visitors, it can be a real challenge in York getting the shot that you want!
Thank you Marie - it's amazing how different the colour of the wall is in sunlight. On a dull day the stone looks very grey, but here it is much richer and creamier.
Thank you Caren - I love the blue sky too, but we don't see it often enough! And it is amazing to think how old it is - yet we tend to take it for granted, although doing this project has made me look at it again with new eyes!
Thank you for being so patient..you got a great picture of the wall. so glad for you that the sun finally came out again..makes the days so much nicer.
Thank you Lydia - I think it was worth waiting for this view
Thank you Tony, glad you like it! I love the variations in size, and the colour of the stones which only becomes obvious on a sunny day

Thank you Bruni - I think it was worth the wait! Sadly we are now back to cloud and rain!
You're very fortunate - we're on our way into autumn having had one of the wettest summers on record, with rainfall around double the normal amount.
