192 - A quick trip on the train to visit my mum today. She asked me to call in Doncaster on the way to get her some things from the market. Although not a market day, there have always been some market stalls open every day - but not today!
Doncaster is a very old town - once having been a Roman settlement. Later, in 1248, a charter was granted for Doncaster Market to be held around the Church of St Mary Magdalene, which in the 16th century became the town hall and which was ultimately demolished in 1846. Now, over 750 years after the original market charter, the market still exists with its stalls located both outside and under cover. Tomorrow it will be a scene of business and bustle and crowds, but not today!
I really like the stillness in this capture but I could easily imagine how busy this place can get. Please revisit and take a picture when the market is open? :)
Thank you Bob, many markets over here seem to be struggling to continue, but the one at Doncaster still seems quite popular. I'm hoping to visit again soon when it's open.

Thank you Frida - I agree, the old fashioned markets were great, and Doncaster's is still quite large and busy, when it's open!
