Entrances to Merchant Adventurer's Hall

241 - Early in my project I included a shot of the Merchant Adventurer's Hall in York http://365project.org/if1/365/2012-03-29 and included a summary of its history. It's a surprise to me that I haven't been back to this fascinating building until now.

These two shots show the way into the building.

The left hand shot shows the archway between shops on Fossgate to get to the Hall. Above this entrance is a very impressive Coat of Arms. Until granted their own Coat of Arms in 1969 the Company used that of the Merchant Adventurers of England, and this is a fine example of that crest. It was made about 1850 by M N Hassey.

The right hand shot shows the magnificent wooden entrance door giving access to the first floor, with an ornate light above the door.
This is great. I love your York shots.
