246 - Yesterday afternoon was an ideal time for a walk on Clifton and Rawcliffe Ings, with beautiful autumn sunshine to accompany me.
Here, looking south-west from the eastern flood bank the sun shines through trees which still retain some of their leaves, but which are also surrounded by carpets of fallen leaves.
This land is part of the area that is deliberately flooded when the river is very high, to reduce the height of the floods in the city centre. These trees would have had over 6 ft of water around them at the end of September - and a lot of the area is still very muddy to walk on!
Thank you all for your kind and generous comments. We've had a lovely display of autumn colours in York this year, and the recent sun has nicely highlighted them!

Thank you for all your kind thoughts and comments. I'm glad that you all like autumn light and shade as much as I do!
