Spider alert! by if1

Spider alert!

317 - Looking out of the house at the snow, I spotted this spider outside the window, on the glass, so here is my first attempt at a shot of a spider. Sadly very little of it's web is visible. If anyone recognises what kind of spider this is, I would be interested to know - my knowledge of such things is very poor indeed!
Cool shot!!! I know quite a lot about spiders... but only local ones... but if I can compare... then this is just a simple garden/house type of spider.

Nice shot Ian. good focus, depth and detail. Water droplets add more interest - seems to be holding one!

Looks very similar to a common spider here in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA.

Very good shot. looks like a common garden spider, she has an egg sac; if she is undisturbed you may get to see the sac open and the lil ones parachute out. That would be a great picture...

Here's a shot of the similar looking species here in Western Washington State: http://365project.org/gizathecat/general/2012-08-30

@fullcircle

Thank you Cindy - not sure I will be allowed to leave a spider on our front window undisturbed, I think my wife will want it moving!

@gizathecat

Thank you Lydia - I think you win on clarity of spider, colour of spider and clarity of web - looks like I need more practice (and maybe a better camera too)!

Yikes but a great close up. I posted a shot of a spider just like this back in September and I looked up the name of it but I don't remember it at all. Might have to look it up again now.
