Peahens

I had to drop off my oldest in another neighborhood and 2 weeks ago I saw some peacocks there. So today I brought my camera. We were lucky because there was a whole family! I wanted to make sure that that these were females, so I googled a bit and learned that the species actually are Peafowls. Males are peacocks and females peahens.

These are such pretty and colourful birds, I love it when they fan their tail feathers out... the patterns and the 'eyes' are so amazing to see.

@stephanies True! Although we have quite a few in the neighborhood I've not seen one with his feathers out yet. Just hope I will have my camera with me when it happens...
