One of the 2 trees in our front yard had a fungus when we moved in over 5 years ago. We have been treating it, but after Harvey all the leaves turned brown. Last week I spotted a crack too. I was convinced that when it would fall it would not go towards our house, but obviously it is cheaper to get it removed when it is still standing, than when it has fallen.
So today a tree team came to remove it. 4 men, 1 in the tree and 3 on the ground worked 1.5 hours and it was gone. I took about 200 pictures, but chose this one because you can see the truck, tree and our house.
We have been lucky because it would not have survived the next storm. The last 3 feet of the stem where hollow!
Rather sad to see a majestic tree like this gone. Oh well, your yard will now have more light so you can grow different flowers that need more light. Exciting to plan a new landscape!
