Got the heads up on FB that there was sun out west so drove there and there was!!! Went to Kirbister museum again and sat with coffee and croissants in the sun. They have a stunning cottage garden - it's a farmhouse museum and I totally love the place - full of textures and beautiful old materials. Not a piece of plastic in sight. I tried doing this by nyself but moving the coat then standing back to get everything in shot didn't work so my wonderful daughter came to the rescue. Tried one on film too but must wait to see how that comes out
Haha, this really made me smile, I don't know how you think these things up! Amazing shot! Your lovely daughter did great too. Glad you caught some sun :-) FAV :-)
I love the textures on this, with the wallpaper remnants and stains. the background has lovely pastel colours, making the jackets leap out, and the one on the right looks like a ghost coat. very nice composition!
I feel you about the no plastic. I know some things need to be plastic and good that we have some now..but oh my..I miss glass bottles, ceramics, wood....Plastic stinks most of the time. I don't understand this museum...it is just old farmhouse and items in there? and you can touch them and photograph them? This came out really neat! It is very vintage, and that photographer/you are in that time period, taking a snap, and someone just came in, hung that coat on the hook, and ran off into the house...with it still swinging.
@pflaume Thanks Lisa- I got my daughter to swing the jacket while I stood back. It didn't swing much and every time I tried it myself it was stopped before I could take the shot!
Beautiful color and mood -- the sharply focused coat is a great contrast with the blurred coat -- good daughter! The photo has a haunted quality. Fave.
I wondered if you got the sun I sent you :) I was feeling a little guilty that our winter is warmer than you summer. Don't forget to send it back when you are finished with it. Lovely effect on the moving jacket. You get great results from your phone.
@thirtysevenways It got here yesterday, thank you so much. It was so weird we sent it back, the rain is vertical today which is a novelty here! Haha, you can't have everything and despite the weather I do love it here.
I am trying to wrap my mind around how I missed this post, how it did not whisper my name all night as I tried to sleep, and thus how today is the first time I've laid eyes on it. Oh my. This is my absolute favorite thing to see - a portrait without people; the human element not in sight yet immanently present. Fav goes without saying.
Always useful to have an assistant. :)
