herston boat 2

going through some of the films from nov/dec - this was outside the herston hostel and just such a beautiful day, 9th dec as it was the same as the light coming through the little window. kodak portra 400 asa. day 11 and tolerance levels are reaching an all time low, cool.
this is the light that i love here at this time of year

Beautiful capture and use of the lighting/shade. I'm such a sucker for row boat shots! :)

A great shot!

Particularly nice. Not seeing the exposure parameters, did you have to do much to pull the detail out without blowing the highlights too badly? The fast ASA 400 doubtlessly helped you here.

Really like the transition from shade to highlights.

Oh no! NO! Should I go and delete my comment on Facebook then? Or should I hide? ;)

I really like this, it bought be a great deal of calm during a very stressful moment. Thank you for sharing. :)

what a beautiful shot! the soft colours are wonderful, great light I like how the far background is brighter, without making the foreground look dark at all. (maybe also the top half of the shot is the sunlit picturesque landscape, and the bottom of the shot is the real island world of working boats. nice juxtaposition). The focus fall-off is just perfect, none of this extreme DOF nonsense! some great detail on the boat's paint, lovely texture. oh, and the composition is rather good too, the boat leaning to the right to balance the 2nd boat pointing to the left,. it just works. sorry for such a long rambling comment, sometimes a photo is just 'right', was this 35mm?

I love this boat, and you're right, the light is fantastic

I completely understand you liking that light. How beautiful. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the "tolerance levels" though. Of the film you were using? Your tolerance of your kids behaviour?!

@kaesebiscuit Ah Mr biscuit, my tolerance levels are mainly directed at work. not been happy for a long time unfortunately and stopping smoking has made me realise how bored I was. Kids are great, film is fine... work is shit :( must get my life sorted
