I was away in Inverness all last week with my middle child, he works in a garage here as an apprentice mechanic. The job involves blocks of training at college throughout the year. The nearest is a ferry and 150 miles away so you have to stay all week. I went with him for the first one, but i know he's going to be fine for the rest. It was such a relief, it was one of those things that I wasn't aware quite how worried I was until it was done. I was free all day for 4 days with nothing to do but take photos, visit art galleries, museums, bookshops, wander around forests... it was bliss and only accentuates how glad I am that I have this kind of down time back. This was an amazing gnarly old tree in a beautiful place on the Black Isle called Fairy Glen. I seek out trees when I get off island as we have so few here, however I was shocked to discover that I missed a treeless landscape. There's something about the bleakness of the North that I love.

i can relate to the idea that we need to go with our kids into new things at first, both for their support but also to relieve our own anxiety! interesting how we become part of a landscape, when i think of leaving this place where i have such easy access to the beach i cant imagine it
Most beautiful, I love trees too. Very impressive for a phone photo and Snapseed processed. So pleased to hear your son is doing fine, am at present in Cornwall seeing my grandson starting school, he's done really well and come on so much in just one week. All the best.
