Spent an hour counting birds in the garden at our place in Cumbria this morning for the RSPB Garden Birdwatch. Thankfully the wind had died down today so the small birds were back, we didn't see any at all yesterday!
In the hour we saw more than 8 of my favourite bird, the blue tit as well as 6 great tits, 1 coal tit, 12 male and 2 female chaffinches, a male and female blackbird, a nuthatch, a male and female great spotted woodpeckers, a robin, a dunnock, 2 tree sparrows and 7 starlings. Surprisingly no greenfinches, siskins or goldfinches this year. Glad the nuthatch made it into the count, we've seen it a few times before but not frequently so it's timing was perfect.
