Sadly, these booksellers along the Seine in Paris have closed down (I believe) due to Covid and lack of “touristes.” I could spend hours and hours there, just perusing old and unique finds. Just looking at this photo brings back many rich, romantic, and even some lonely memories of my 20-year-old self finding my way around that beautiful city many years ago.
Oh, this is so beautifully composed. I love the yummy tones here, such an evocative image. And is there anything better than a good book?! It's a tremendous tragedy so many of these wonderful sellers have had to close down. Covid sucks.
My 20-year-old self was there ages ago (1985-86) for a year of study in Paris. I took both of my daughters to Paris on separate trips a few years ago, and I fell in love all over again. I imagine they will revive in time, but this does give me all the feels again.
@jakb With Hamilton College! I attended Connecticut College. So were you at Reid Hall too for some classes? I also attended classes at Institut Brittanique and Institut Catholique. My brother did his Jr. Year with Sweet Briar.
@darylo C’est une petite monde après tout! I was at Cornell, but that year with SB also studied at Inst. Catholique, Alliance Française, and one of the Paris universities. BIG year. Learned a TON - mostly outside of classes. Ha.
