The school year is finally coming to an end. Not a single time this year did I have a student ask for a pencil, get up during class to sharpen one or turn anything in on paper. The virtual school year saw a lot of problems for students who realized how easily they could disengage from the class. Hopefully when we resume in August we will be 100% back in person.
I have seen up close how tough it was for both teachers and students alike. School was always meant to be interactive and that I think was the worst part of the on-line approach but it was the only way to avoid setting everybody back for at least a year. The half-in/half-out approach wasn't much better and maybe even more confusing although a relief for parents who still had to work through all this. PA schools are going back to full-time in the Fall and hopefully all the students will be up to speed but I have a feeling many are going to be lagging behind. I like this close-up view- it really looks like these pencils are ready to go!
@thewatersphotos I was hired to teach photography and journalism. Over the years it morphed into yearbook and broadcasting. Then the superintendent said it wasn't equitable that our school had a program that other schools in the district could not offer because nobody else was qualified to teach it -- so they shut down my program and now I teach English and Microsoft office.
