Springsure a la Richter by jeneurell

Springsure a la Richter

For my last 'Richter' artist challenge I've used a photograph of some friends taken around 1990 when we were all helping with koala research out at Springsure. As my 'koala' friends were also my 'art' friends I don't think they would mind. I dedicate this to my friend Dawn (in centre) who is no longer with us. I used oils paints which I mixed on glass and pressed the photograph face down onto the paint to get the effect. The photograph is the same size as Richter's 6" x 4" painted photographs. I also used a palette knife in parts. I am surprised at how much more 3 dimensionality there is now in the photo.

A short write up on Richter's painted photographs: http://jmcolberg.com/weblog/2011/10/a_letter_from_london_gerhard_richter_and_his_overpainted_photographs/
I followed your link on Facebook Jennifer, had a look and decided to give it a try!

@ag47 Join the crowd. This is my fourth year, and there are many others up to their fourth or fifth year - it gets a bit addictive, but as you take lots of photos anyway, you should love it.

Really like what you have achieved here. Great textures and like how the paint combined with the image
