I've spent the last few days sorting out many years of transparencies. Some are faded, some are purple and others have gone dark. Some had never been mounted. The heap in the front are going, but there are plenty worth keeping a bit longer in the boxes. I can't believe how many I have that are not labelled though - the boxes are but there are lots of individual slides that I haven't a clue where they were taken - or even why!
A lot of work! I never shot slide film but I have boxes full of negatives that I probably should sort through - not to mention old hard disks that may or may not have digital images on them :-)
You have reminded me that I should bring some of my slides and my slide projector out the next time the grands visit. They would get a kick out of the pictures we can show up on the wall! Happy sorting!
What are you doing with them Jennifer? Are you digitalising? Keeping for showing on a projector? I've recently done a digitalising effort with my dad's slides, but only on a phone app. I wonder if I should have done them on a better piece of equipment. Might redo some of the better ones in an attempt to get better quality.
@helstor365 I've probably got a few negatives, floppy disks, CD's, DVD's and a hard drive too! The rest can wait. @olivetreeann I first saw a slide project when I was about ten or an early teen - I was mesmerised. It was also the first time I saw a coloured picture. @jamibann Just a bit of culling - well overdue. I have a printer I can scan slides on but not sure the software is still on it. My husband is having a go at resurrecting our old projector! It has been nice to go through them again even if I do nothing else. I haven't tried the phone app.
If you search on YouTube there are lots of instructional videos on duplicating / digitizing slides with a digital camera ranging from very simple setups to quite advanced (and expensive :-) setups. The advantages of doing it with a camera is that it is much quicker than scanning and you get a RAW file you can edit in your favourite image app. @jamibann@jeneurell
