A man with an umbrella walking up the sidewalk in the rain. I know he's too dark, but I was pretty stuck on using the Adjustable Threshold effect in picnik. And was too lazy to go into photoshop to give him some special treatment.
I'm currently situated in Victoria, having previously lived in Beijing, Halifax, Chilliwack, Calgary, Vancouver and growing up in Northwestern Ontario. My aim with photography is...
For some reason this is reminding me of the original Excorcist movie poster. Now I have to go google it and see why. But I love this shot - very atmospheric. And what is this Adjustable Threshold in picnik?? Is it a premium feature?
@pwallis ~ Oh, I like that poster! I wish that man had paused under that streetlamp for me! The Adj. Thres. thingy is under 'sandbox effects'. Now I wish I'd also applied a focal soften to this one. I read of others editing without deleting, but I don't see how it could be done.
I see the Exorcist in this too... this is a really cool shot, and a fav for me. I like the threshold effect in this, making the person really pop out, almost looking like copypasted on the image. Also the gradual b&w works for me in this one. Usually I'd whine on straightening the pic, but in this it doesn't bother me. Not too crazy on the rounded corners though (I guess because I've overused it myself)...
That empty front screams for a name of the movie there ... :-)
This has a great feel to it! The monochromatic look is perfect here. I wouldn't have noticed anything amiss about the guy if you hadn't pointed out that he's too dark so only when I focus on him do I see that he's a bit too sharp. Still, I think you captured the moment wonderfully and took the inspiration and made it into your own picture.
I absolutely love the way this was edited. It seems like two different realms are conjoining together to create a unique story - each with its own take on despair, rejection, dejection and loneliness.
absolutely love it! everything about it! the composition and selective colouring and i think the man isnt too dark thats what makes the photo so great for me!!
oh wow! this is so super moody, and yes, has kind of a creepy/exorcist-ish feel to it! very awesome. what i really like is that the man is sillouetted. perfect!
@janmaki ~ It's crooked? I'm very bad at judging straight vs...'not straight'. I hear you on the rounded corners....considering it is so processed already, I should lay off the extra bells and whistles. *Should* being the key word here! ;)
Janna I think this is my most fav photo by you! - I would looooove to have it on my wall :D so cool to go through your shots again and see all those great photos again :)
@kammy Are you okay with the round edged? I think I've checked this one before...and didn't save the non-rounded version. Grrrr....wish hadn't rounded any corners of photos!
