I spent Monday all day driving to and from and driving around an absolutely fabulous wildlife "safari" park before getting sick. I expect I will be posting a lot of pictures from there. One of the most stunning of the animals was the Sumatran tiger- a seriously endanged species. The background available where he was in the park was awful, so I selected and put him in a shot I took a couple years ago in HI> I've never been to Indonesia so this was the best I could come up with.
I still feel like a novice in background substitution and fear the tonalities of background and tiger don't match. I would love suggestions from those more experienced than I in such.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
I think it is beautiful! The tiger stands out from the background which helps me focus on the tiger. But if you feel he is too bright compared to the back ground, you could bring down the saturation on him. personally I like it the way it is!
WOW this is stunning Jane! The tones in the background can quickly be nudged in PS --
- select the tiger layer;
go to Image/Adjustments/Match Colour....
in the box select Source...select the file name..
in the box select Layer..select the tiger layer (to match the background to the tiger layer tones)
if preview is ticked, you should see a little change. Adjust the Luminance & colour intensity to suit ...
Terrific Edit Jane, you have done a wonderful job. I've just looked at the edits that Lyn has suggested on her private album and with those small changes, this will definitely take this shot right up there.
Wow - what a fantastic composition - wonderful focus and very nice light. You were extremely clever in that substitution of background - looks quite natural.
Oh, wow - a wonderful result. I, too, am very inexperienced with replacing backgrounds. I find the selection process to be technically advanced, too. I read with interest @ltodd 's suggestions on how better to match up the background tonalities, too. I have heard that the pen tool is the most precise method of selection, but I have yet to study the tutorials which teach me how to use it! Hope you feel better soon - super photo.
What park did you go to?
