@30pics4jackiesdiamond Maybe by using shadow Vs light. He built up blocks of tone - light and shade, then added colour. Clever clogs used his left hand then his right when painting. He said he put a model/figurine in a black box with a single light source, which gave definite black/white shadows. This helped him study the form and shape of a figure.
