@mirroroflife Sand sculptors use builders' sand or river sand that has coarse grains which include silt and clay. That is what a sculptor told me at Frankston a few years ago.

Correct. I talked to the sculptor and he says the brick lays sand as he called it sticks together whereas Beach sand doesn’t.
They use builders sand. See a later comment.
