Wayland's Smithy by jon_lip

Wayland's Smithy

This is the entrance to The 'Wayland's Smithy' a neolithic long barrow burial chamber. It dates from about 3500BC and has been excavated at various times and found to contain bones and artefacts from that period. It is just off The Ridgeway at Uffington which is a glorious walk that we do quite often as The Ridgeway is only a ten minute drive to a NT car park from our house. Although the walk was only c3.5 miles, we took 2 1/2 hours as we kept stopping to admire the views.
Like a complete drongo, when I came to take a photograph with my Nikon, I realised that I had left my SD Card at home in my computer :-( So this was taken with my phone.
Interesting location.

I never take my card out of the camera but did leave my passport in the scanner once and only realised at the station.

Lucky I was early enough to hitch a lift back to get it and return before the train left. :(

@travel
It seems that preparation is the key?

Yep! I have done that before too and then you have to drag the camera around all day to no avail .-( Needless to say it only happened once, now I always turn on the camera quick and look to see if card and battery are ready to go!
In any case your phone took a great shot here with a lot of depth, what an interesting place, and so very old!

Hello Carol, yes I can assure you that it will never happen again! As the saying goes ..... '...the best camera in the world is the one you have with you at the time ......'
