St Swithun's - in winter sun

This is the church of St Swithun (built in 13th century) in a hamlet called Compton Beauchamp about 4 miles from our house. St Swithun was born in about 800AD and became Bishop of Winchester and died in 862AD. He is associated with the weather forecast for England with the rhyme: 'if thou dost rain For forty days it will remain. If thou be fair For forty days 'twill rain nae mair'. What it meant was, if it rains on St Swithun's bridge (in Winchester) on 15th July it will rain for 40 days after. If not, then it won't! But I always knew the 15th July as 'Apple Christening Day' - or at least that's what my Mum told me and she should know because it was her birthday!
Great light!
