A surprise by joysabin

A surprise

While climbing down a hill to investigate the geese below, I spotted this pair of bald eagles. I've seen their nest and thought that they wouldn't be around until spring. Such a gift to see them.
VML the branches, some lit whilst others are in shadow...and the eagles are superbly indifferent to their moment fame.

Thx for the follow, I follow in return.

@s4sayer Thank you so much. The dead trees are what they seem to like to nest and rest in. I like the bare/dead ones since they show strength and structure- and they don't produce anymore pine needles for me to pick up :)

@catsmeowb Thank you, I do count my lucky stars for this. Moments later they both flew away since I was bold enough to disturb them.

You lucky lady. What a great shot.

@megpicatilly Thank you, there was a very large Ponderosa Pine just out of frame that gave the shadow. I truly do feel graced that I got the shot.

@brett101 I thank you kindly, and thank goodness that those geese were noisy otherwise I wouldn't have walked towards the eagles.

@stephanies I normally walk in my neighborhood but yesterday I needed to walk in the woods am so very glad that I did. Thank you very much.

@pasttheirprime Thank you ever so much, those two were just watching and waiting. I am so grateful that I heard the noise and looked up.

@jerome I am very thankful for the fav. The trails around town are very extensive and now I have a new local favorite.

@pdulis Thank you so much, I was amazed that they let me get close. I've never been that close to a bald eagle, let alone a pair before.

You're so fortunate not only to see these, but to capture them so clearly!

Unbelievable to be so close. Dramatic due to the 'bald' tree. Perfect.

Sensational shot! What a thrill it must have been to see these two and the way the tree frames them. Fav!
