I find this Pueblo to be a powerfully spiritual spot. I enjoy it best in the winter when few others do. ( http://www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/wupatki/national_monument.html) The complex is close to Flagstaff and on the way to the Grand Canyon.
It is an infrared which feel into the etsooi soup.
That sky is amazing! and the information is so interesting! I can't begin to imagine how big that house must have been in its day....it must have been just enormous to house over 300 people!!!
@jeffinvt I am very grateful for the fav, thank you kindly. It is a great treat to be so close to these. @365projectltaylor Thank you so much, playing with infrared in less than optimal conditions has been interesting. It was grey and over cast which isn't what I'm told is the best time to shoot infrared. @365projectorgsebgritt The Pueblo has about 100 rooms all together, there is a 'ball court at the base of the hill, it is assumed that is what it was used for. Infrared under cloudy skies seems to capture all sorts of things that come out in edits. I am just figuring all this out. @megpicatilly Thank you every so much for the fav. I love these ruins, they are so full of character. The infrared combined with edits seem to really love them too. @graemestevens Thank you a great deal for the fav, I was chasing the sun and gave up but the infrared capture of the clouds that I couldn't see helped me feel better. @brett101 I go our to see these ruins often since they seem to let me see different aspects each time. The clouds are an infrared gift too. @cjphotoI go see and explore these often and I hadn't stopped at this spot before to take a shot. There usually several people walking around, this time nobody else was there. @andywallis Thank you so very much the fav, This monument really makes me feel calm, I can't really explain it but I found my moment of Zen (total silence) with this visit. @catsmeowb Thank you so much, the ruins are a favorite spot for me. @eudora I truly appreciate the fav and grateful for the following. IThe monument is so amazing, there are several different structure sites to explore. @stephanies Thank you so much, kinda like an apartment or flat complex of sorts. There are other ruins in the monument that are smaller but this one is so amazingly preserved. The clouds are courtesy of the infrared.
@joemuli Thank you, I am very grateful for the fav. I love exploring this monument. @slash Truly appreciate the fav, thank you. I've not been there (yet) I must.
There aren't enough superlatives to do justice to this moving and remarkable shot and its history. We benefit that you are sympa with such places and share such experiences here. Thank you.
@s4sayer It is an honor to feel and appreciate the strength that this place offers, something about the high desert and solitude grabs my spirit. It all came together that day and I am so very very grateful for your fav. @365projectorgjenfurj I am most grateful for your fav, thank you very much. I was surprised that the infrared picked up the clouds that I couldn't see. I am just beginning to appreciate the way light is captured using this process. @taffy I am making progress with infrared and its possibilities. These ruins and the rest of the monument truly are a gem. @jerome Thank you most kindly for the fav, the infrared spectrum is fascinating. I will be trying to make a digi-negative from this and print in palladium this weekend. @bkbinthecity Thank you ever so much for the fav. I am learning more and more about infrared and its possibilities.
@overalvandaan This is a true gem in the desert. This is the closet that we have to castles around here, I feel lucky to have them. @gardencat Thank you, I was amazed at the IR with the clouds. will definitely do this more. @pickerandagrinner Thank you, now for the digi-neg and palladium. @stefneyhart Thank you ever so much for the fav. I haven't made it to Chaco Canyon yet but hope to. The overcast sky was hiding all those great shadows in the clouds. I will be working more with this for sure.
