This female mallard and her mate (just out of frame) were hanging out along the path, about 4 feet from me. I believe that she is watching me intently but was still rather calm. I did keep my distance to their comfort level but felt gifted to capture such a close shot.

I believe that eggs are laid starting mid-March or so. She wasn't moving at all so I guess I wasn't close enough to really bother her too much. I will check back now and then to see if there are any ducklings.
