Going to get more

A local pest to some but I consider it a lucky moment when I spotted him/her. ( https://gazettetimes.com/eedition/page-a1/page_982aca24-32b8-594f-b936-ec0734215327.html ). I was told by another spotter, that the city only does dam clearing twice a week so this little one has a few days to just build before all of its hard work is for naught.
Love the golden tones on the water… nice catch!

Lovely to see. Shame she will expend her energy to no avail

@kvphoto @ziggy77 @talmon I am surprised that this guy/gal is so close to people and their homes. It was definitely a gift to see.

Hi Joy - great photo with the movement and colour - but could you please help an ignorant aussie - what exactly is the creature.... :)

Beautiful colors, light and capture of the ripples.

Good eye- we apparently have beavers somewhere nearby but I've never seen evidence of them.

@robz It's a beaver- but I confess- I read the tag! I thought it was an otter at first.

Well caught

Neat shot. Interesting story of the conflict between people and nature.

@robz This guy is also considered a rodent ( https://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/beaver ). Oregon State University has it as its mascot too. They are shy and are often destructive to trees ( https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/beaver-teeth-marks.html?sortBy=relevant ).

@joemuli @joansmor @shutterbug49 @olivetreeann @jgpittenger @eudora Thank you so much, I was lucky to snag this one as most of the area is surrounded by trees and of the course the beaver didn't much appreciate being bothered by bi-peds while working so hard to repair its dam.

They leave for work at sunset and return to their lodges at sunrise. Well caught.

Lucky you, I've never seen one. They've recently been re-introduced around here as part of a re-wilding project.
