My back is killing after 5 hours of driving yesterday but I was determined to get into town and check out it’s new ‘open’ status. There were tables out all over the place and with temperatures back above freezing lots of people were thoroughly enjoying the restaurant offerings. I stuck to a coffee but I did get to sit down while I drank it - I nearly missed the seat as I was coming out of the coffee shop as a man heading in was shouting, “Sit! Sit!” at his teenaged daughters. They took one look at my expression and moved on - well as I said....bad back!
Weather: lovely spring day
Covid: still hands, face, space but we can do that in John Lewis!
Good thing: lots of chores ticked off. No blood drawn medicating the cat today.
The thing with eating out is the food goes cold so quickly! As not even a BBQ lover I’m not eating out until the sun is melting the tarmac! Lovely scene though....it looks very civilised must say!
the tables are sort of blocking the street for passers by , not ideal and not really a great experience either for a diner ! Nice streetie though judith
Hope your back settles down soon after all the driving. Gentle stretches and walking helps me after a long drive with my back issues.
I like your pov on this. They look frozen but happy and the distancing is good.
@phil_howcroft more the latter - there have always been outdoor tables here - now the row is longer. There’s plenty of room to get by and it means that the Deliveroo moped riders going to and from MacDonalds have been curtailed from riding through the pedestrian area which is a major plus!
@jakb there is v good evidence of v low transmission outside so that’s good. My worry is that we get visitors to our town which currently has close to zero cases. I’d like to think people do home tests before traveling out of area but there’s no way of enforcing that so we don’t know what people are bringing in.
Looking good in 'open' mode. I know merchants and businesses are relieved to see the start of a return to normal. I hope things continue to steadily improve...And that would include your back, Judith. So sorry you are feeling the after effects of your long drive.
