It’s lovely to have a sunny evening walk and especially to see boats back out on the river. This boat is off out for a training session and six members of the crew are balancing the boat while 3 & 4 are rowing.
Weather: chilly until lunchtime but blue skies ruled.
Covid: I’m double jabbed!
Good thing: lovely friendly vaccinator & what appears to be plenty of capacity when we get more supplies.
Wonderful shot of things returning to normal. I love the teamwork of a rowing crew.
And how wonderful that you are doubled jabbed!!
We've about reached the point in the US where all who will participate have been vaccinated. Meaning that about 50% of the population are anti-vaxxers, or Covid deniers, or science deniers, or whatever. I say the hell with them and we send those millions of doses to India. I'm running out of patience with some people. ☺
@peggysirk No! Dammit & you have great vaccine supplies. I’m with you on the ‘let Darwinism take its course’ point of view but their actions will impact the whole of society. As far as I can see here the under 50’s are chomping at the bit to get theirs as soon as we have sufficient supplies. Take up is very high except in some parts of London mostly for cultural/religious/lack of engagement in society reasons though religious & cultural leaders are chipping away encouraging people to take it up. Maybe slowly people will see sense over with you.
Classic sight! And congrats on your double dose!
I was watching the lovely Prof Tim Spector's video update on the ZOE Symptom app this morning and the delightful news that currently as a single dosed person, I have a 1 in 74,000 chance of catching covid and in a couple of weeks time you will have a 1 in 114,000 chance at today's numbers! It really is helping and worth doing.
@judithg The CDC and other agencies are flooding society with pro-vaccine messaging, enlisting celebrities and trusted public figures to promote vaccination, etc. There are now massive stadium and other large walk-up vaccination sites - no appointments necessary. But response among certain segments - particularly the politically far right - is slow. I honestly think it's going to take a vicious variant surge among the unvaccinated to encourage vaccination participation. I hope I'm wrong.
@peggysirk well the trouble is that the more virus in circulation the more chance of variants arising so they are putting everybody at risk- very frustrating. As usual we are being too slow and ineffective with border security.
@casablanca I watched him on your recommendation! Great news though the app is missing a surge in Cambridge at the moment- probably not the same demographic as app users.
Love the rings from their paddles, oars, or whatever they are called. Congrats on your second jab, hope your side effects don’t bring you down for long. It is such a relief to see friends and we can remove our masks and really see each other...we still keep our distances though.
