REALLY struggling today! I worked all morning and dropped Rachel at school for her exam as there were brief but very wetting showers appearing every so often. Just further down the road from her school is Addenbrooke's Hospital and there's a very smooth cycle path through the fields behind which makes a nice walk for the dog and eventually turns into something quite interesting for a 365 shot. It also meets the railway and I have to do 'movement' for this week's photography class homework. By this stage in the walk we had not reached either of the photo ops but we had got very wet and lost BOTH hoops down a steep ditch but it wasn't unpleasant until that black cloud started lightning. It's very rare that I'm the tallest thing around but I felt very exposed and decided to beat a retreat. Monty shot off in front of me and disappeared out of sight but when I caught him up he was covered in sticky buds and miscellaneous plantage but had retrieved his hoops - good boy!! I'll try to make it to the interesting bit soon but in the meantime the jury's out on this - I'm not sure but I haven't got much else!!
This is a fantastic shut & I agree the road does pull you in ! The sky reminds me of those photos in America when there is a tornado on it's way, I think I would have beat a hasty retreat too !! Don't for goodness sake lose Monty's hoops !!!
It's an awesome shot, sometimes the simplest things make the most interesting pictures. Love how you framed it with the narrow road at the right of the picture.
I absolutely love it! It's wonderfully dramatic, the path leading into the black cloud is great, everything is where it should be and of course I love the editing... That is exactly the road I was trying to find on my biketour last weekend. I was actually at that hospital but could not for the live of me find a bike path, the only thing I found was a closed road to a farm. Where did I go wrong?
I like what you have done here Judith, looks very atmospheric and the colours make u want to walk along the road and into the distance. Less is more :)
@jannaellen I find it by going past the hospital to Red Cross Lane and through the gates onto the hospital grounds, go past a bus shelter being used as a smokers' den and turn left. There's a whole load of builders' equipment that you need to steer round but basically at that point you just head to the fields. Hope this makes sense - it's quite tricky at the moment - I wouldn't have found it if I didn't know where it was already.
brilliant Judith, do you recommend joining a class, I am very stuck with my photography and just with all the hectic things happening in my life at the moment I need a burst of enthusiasm :-(
@bromley1 It's fun - nice range of interesting people and I'm learning stuff but the homework is a bit of extra pressure on top of 365 (I'd love to just use old pictures but I'm supposed to take new ones!)
There's nothing "not interesting" about this at all! FABULOUS shot - love the perspective anqd the balance of sky to land - those clouds are just AWESOME! love the editing you've done here. Really great job
