Well actually I took this yesterday but I don't mind cheating because it still represents my activities today and because I climbed the Chapel Tower at St John's to get it and I've no intention of doing that again soon! I've mentioned my spiral staircase phobia before and this is the tower where it originally manifested itself! It was REALLY windy on the roof of the tower which is 50m high and I was just snapping and hoping and thinking about the descent! The wall around the edge is just the wrong height for me - I can't see over it so I took my pics through the carved windows. This is Second Court, Third Court, the river (just visible - you can't see the Bridge of Sighs unfortunately), New Court, The Fisher Building and Cripps snaking off into the distance - and the beautiful college lawns either side. You really realise how small Cambridge is as you can see the countryside quite close in to the city.
Lovely shot Judith & how well you know Cambridge... but of course you would ! Such beautiful buildings & if you were at Uni there you would never want to leave !! Thanks for showing us that fab view !
Judith, a great view full of history and character.........be careful at the top of the tower ......i remember you did a tower series earlier in the year...they too were cracking images
Wow!!! What an amazing view, phenomenal perspective, and excellent framing of the shot!! This is one stunning shot, Judith. Glad you faced your fears and climbed those stairs, braved the heights and the breeze to get this incredible photo. You are such the intrepid photographer.
What a view! And I love the framing of the photo with the stone window frame. I dislike small spiral stairs myself. I went to the top of the Statue of Liberty once and I will not do that again.
wonderful reoof top view Judith - I'm with you on the whole sprial staircase and heights thing! you did well though this is a great perspective of the colleges
@happypat Only because this was my college - of the others I only know the name of Trinity Great Court and that's only because of the Chariots of Fire thing!
love the framing and perspective (thank your stars it's spiral staircases - we have ladders, including a vertical one to get to the similar view for me)
like the view.
