Just one more for tonight. I walked into the upstairs part of the Ellis Island Immigration Museum to find this boy lost in thought. I don't know if it was the spectacular view or the Audio Tour that had his attention. There's a room up there with some fantastic photos taken whilst the Immigration Reception Centre was in a state of decay. All sorts of stuff was abandoned and left to rust and with the atmospheric light it was a great location. One of the photographers said when she first went over it was very ghostly and there was a constant 'presence' and feeling of conversations just out of earshot but she said as the renovations progressed the ghosts seemed to settle.
Wonderful capture of SO MANY things here! Primarily, his image represents promise and dreams... Kinda' the stuff America once stood for. You've captured Ellis Island in this picture. BRAVA!
I just knew you would get NYC in a complete different light Judith ! This is so evocative of so many dreams & hopes & I love the way the boy is just leaning on the windowsill gazing out.
