Self-explanatory really. I'm trying to remember which street - I think somewhere around W 47th. On our first day we headed up to the top of the Rockefeller Building and then set out on foot down to SoHo and TriBeCa via the Highline Park which takes you off to the west of Manhattan. When I took this photo we were still full of vim and vigour - nine or ten miles later I was slightly less enthusiastic.
Nice iconic street shot. i hope you brought one home with you so you can place it round cambridge like the bike. btw I didnt avoid getting wet. I thought I'd come back from Wales with trench foot. How far can you get in a NY cab for $25? less than a mile i bet...
@north_ender Yes - we didn't see a single old-style one. I wasn't sure if it was pollution regulations or the price of fuel or just that everybody has moved on.
@fueast About 10 miles (slow ones as well) - much less expensive than London. We tried to avoid them because all of the stop-starting made me feel sick!
@happypat Actually Pat it was pretty calm, clean and not too noisy ('no honking' in lots of places!) we did have the odd cab driver who liked to remind himself where his horn was and the fire engines were deafening but at night we didn't hear much at all - I was surprised!
