I took Adam to school this morning as he had a school trip and we entertained ourselves en route by spotting graduands in their hoods and gowns in photogenic places. Ironically I was muttering to him about not having a raincoat as there were a couple of sharp showers but by the time I got home the sun was out and temperatures were rising rapidly. Consequently I waited till well into the afternoon to take Monty out by which time it was overcast and humid and unexpectedly hot. After a quick hooping session Monty was ready to lie down in any bit of shade and it was a long slow walk to get to the Senate House for some photo ops. Slightly desperate by then I brazenly stuck my camera through the Senate House gate to take the nice Proctors and one of them came shooting down the steps to me - luckily to talk to Monty and tell me about his Spaniels. So we were both taken completely by surprise by the arrival of Pembroke College's Praelector and students. He grabbed the gate and I grabbed a shot as the Praelector doffed his hat. There are quite strict dress rules and students get thoroughly inspected before leaving the college. Any transgressions and the Praelector is fined a bottle of port for each one. okay check out my photo of the day - literally I think we were there around the same time because I was there for Pembroke College too!! Btw love the expression on that guy's face!
@fueast Yeah they didn't look too stressed - I think the guy looking at us is a vet (judging by the hood) and he's next to a medic, with a few engineers behind - lots of proper subjects at any rate!
That guy is looking straight at you Judith! It makes you feel quite goose bumpy looking at these special moments in these young peoples lives! Great description of your day...I do like to hear about peoples daily doings in fact some times I think that is more important to me than the picture!
Nice shot. Love the line of people receding out of frame.
