@halkia has pointed out that if we started on 1st Jan 2011 today's shot gives us 150% so I thought I'd better get out and take a shot. In fact I've taken loads of pics today for a secret surprise project that I can't describe yet (just in case) and I'm going to get very frustrated as the recipient is always around the blooming house. Anyway I thought I'd give my macro rings another run to tonight. I thought I'd done really well but uploading shows I'm on some silly high ISO and the shots are grainy. Thanks for all your lovely comments on my picture of Rachel and me - we are both rather flattered!
@judithg take note of the second hand bit! Looking into it, wasn't sure whether to go for a better zoomie lens or macro, price will guide me I suppose!
This is so gorgeous despite a bit of noise.love the colors, the stamen, the delicate transparency of the outer petals, the dof, background. Look forward to the surprise
So are macro rings the same as extension tubes or something different? I had some extension tubes but couldn't get on with them. The DOF was extremely shallow and focusing almost impossible. This doesn't look grainy to me. I like the glow on the edge of the petals xx
@psychographer Just sits between the lens and the camera body. No electronics & the DOF is very shallow - and you have to get really close. I processed this to hide the graininess! Do your adapters go in front of the lens?
@judithg It sounds like the tubes I had. There were four that could be used individually or all together. I gave them to my son as I just couldn't get on with them. I now have an adapter that goes on the front of my 50mm plus a filter that then screws on the front of that. More easily adjustable than the tubes because the f-stop can be altered xx
@judithg I needed the adapter for the 50mm because the diameter is smaller but the filter screws onto any other lens. I posted the links for the ones I got in a discussion the other day http://365project.org/discuss/general/13266/advice-for-new-lens-please-canon
The filter was only £20 I think so much more affordable than a macro lens xx
