I went out taking pics for our local dog groomers (Poochie Parlour) who organised a dog show in aid of the toy dog rescue centre today. Sadly the extremely hot and dog-unfriendly weather meant the numbers were down. Both of these dogs are rescued - Roo on the left had just won 'most beautiful eyes' and Pearl on the right is belongs to the rescue dog people. I can understand why somebody might not cope with a Great Dane (although - perhaps think about that before you buy one!) but I was amazed at the way very expensive little dogs like Chihuahuas are abused. Quite a few come from horrific conditions in puppy farms and this one was bought for £2500 (from a woman who had her spayed because she kept having litters with only one surviving puppy) and when the new owner realised she was spayed she left her at the rescue home - very underweight and in a bad way. Not my type of dog but very sweet temperament and totally undeserving of any sort of mistreatment. Forgot to say - I couldn't get them closer because Roo is scared of Chihuahuas!!
Such sad stories. It's awful what people do to animals (and to each other for that matter). Lovely picture though and at least these dogs have happy futures to look forward to.
What a lovely pair of doggies. People should not have dogs if they can't accept them for who they are because like people they are all very different with their own little characters. These are lovely
I don't cease to be amazed at how people can treat dogs so cruelly.
Roo is a magnificent dog and seems to know it; Pearl looks a tad bashful - nice shot!
Marvelous shot of the extremes in the canine kingdom. I always love fundraisers supporting rescue efforts. And it's heartwarming to know these two now have loving homes! Roo is magnificent. I have a friend in ATL who just welcomed a Great Dane into her family. At 11 weeks Walter is already thigh high and has feet the size of buckets! :)
Such a gorgeous shot Judith. Roo is gorgeous - looks so full of character. I hate to think of an animal who wants nothing but to love and please their human being mistreated.
How totally lovely..........such a sad and often repeated story I'm afaid...This is something I would have to address if that was me who'd won the lottery millions, Makes for a great shot. Hope the charity get a copy of this.
