My first ever HDR Photomatix doings. It's the trial version so I don't know why it doesn't have the watermark but I'm not arguing with it. I just let it do its thing and then chose one I liked the look of. This was three bracketed shots with the smallest possible range of exposures - the tutorials seem to use a wider range so maybe I'll play a bit more when I get a decent sky to play with. Anyway - the gate at Trinity Hall here - I like the lamp over the doorway and it happened to be lit today.
3 good things:
1. Got a glimpse of my lovely daughter on Skype today because she was helping her brother with his maths.
2. She hasn't changed - no fluffy kitten Athena posters for her - she's bought an enormous poster of Muhammed Ali for her room.
3. The house is scrubbed clean - I wish it would last more than a few hours!
What a gorgeous and ornate arched gateway...with the quintessential Cambridge bicycle! Simply marvelous composition!
Skype is a wonderful thing...wish it had been around when my girls were off at school! I hope Rachel is feeling settled in and comfortable in her new surroundings.
@peggysirk Well I didn't feel very 'with it' as I sat there with the headphones in only for Adam to come along and point out that he'd disconnected to headphones so I could chat normally.....
@judithg - how funny! That's the sort of thing I'd do, I'm a bit of a technophobe with things like that! I've just invested in Photomatix too, I can't wait to experiment, this is great for a first attempt Judith, well done!
You are romping on with your camera settings & Photomax sounds very technical but this is a perfect first go, I am impressed!!! Love that soft mellow stone & the view through those pretty gates. I think everyone in Cambridge must say in the morning.'' Judith is coming this way today, leave the bike out in a suitable place' !
Love your three things & glad Rachel is in touch even if it's via Adam, she is a good girl helping her brother when she has so much new to take in.
Lovely shot Judith, and a bike yipeee. , I do not understand HDR yet?? am I missing out?? Skype is great but only if you have a good connection, it never worked when Patrick was in Spain, cost me a fortune on the mobile!!
Your HDR doings have gone quite well! I think you can use some standard options without the watermark. In the end though you will want to fiddle with the sliders so you'd better shell out for the low end version.
great HDR, nice and subtle! agree with @fueast, you'll be wanting a fuller version before September is out!! I hate it that things never last very long when you've cleaned...it's probably why I don't do it as often as I should!!
Love the HDR on this - works great on this shot!.
Judy, my camera Nikon D5100 has a feature where I can take HDR, it will take 2 shots and then combine them in my camera. I've never been able to figure out out to do it with seperate shots in the software - I can take the braketing shots but i don't understnad the software.
Is there an advantage to do it through the software vs. the in camera?
@myhrhelper Well I'm a complete novice but I know you can merge more exposures - standard three I think and then you can make adjustments to give weight to the different layers etc.
Wonderful composition Judith, and great job with your first effort at HDR. Love the tones in the stonework against the wrought iron, and of course the bike. The lamp just tops it off.
