A slightly weird day all round. Not a bad day but odd bad things happened. Foremost amongst the bad things was calling the paint shop to ask if they minded me dropping in with Monty to collect a paint sample (having already spent a fortune on ones that just don't look right) and being told that was fine because when we actually went in the owner's miniature dachshund went bonkers and in the excitement fell off the shop counter where her basket is located. I felt terrible because she now has a nasty limp and a trip to the vet is required.
The weather has alternated between glorious sunshine and hail or snow.
Three good things:
1. Dental anaesthetic (although I persuaded the dentist to give me extra and now it's worn off my tooth is achey).
2. I've bought a new long down coat - four months late really but it was in the sale and will be good for next winter (and this one is showing no intention of ending). The last one in town in my size I think so I was lucky.
3. Meeting 365 friends tomorrow.
Same weather here! This shot really captures the day and what looks to be a really lovely garden - full of interest. As it's such a beautiful composition with lovely muted tones it's going to have to be a FAV
p.s hope the dog is OK?
@malc Don't know - she was wagging her tail but couldn't put any weight on her front leg - hopefully she's 'only' jarred it a bit. I'll find out tomorrow.
You have captured a very beautiful image here, the sleety rain softens everything and makes it all look dreamy and lovely . . . Although I know it's NOT!!
oo bleak, this was exactly the time I headed out with the dog and sulked my way into the park. Poppy found her best mates so was happy careering around in the blizzard. You can't be blamed for the fall - the dog should have been better trained. Or is that a bit harsh?
Oh lovely garden Judith, does it happen to be yours? A real down pour or is it snow but we have had a much better day..sorry!
Poor little dog that was very unfortunate....Monty ill have to send a get well card!
Lovely meet up, enjoy all of you!
@fueast Well my nice friend in the park says she shouldn't 'store' it on the counter. I'm just glad I'd asked permission in advance. He put mucky footprints all over the floor as well.
oh it does look bleak in Cambridge! Send some rain here as it hasn't rained for months! Great news about your new coat. Have a great meet up tomorrow xx
@happypat They are solar lights I put up for Rachel's party (on the one hot day of summer!) They are coloured but this shot is desaturated quite a bit. The house is Nigel's office - it's the international headquarters of our business!! We also have a summer house further down as previous owners left a concrete base too big and hard to remove (it's got one small corner chipped out!) but that's got gym equipment in it so I don't go there very often!
@judithg That is a great idea to have the office there ...shut up shop at night & walk away!!!! Rather too lovely for an office though! I used to have a summer house & I loved it to read in but it fell to bits & we never replaced it. Your garden is very large & long....can see something at the far end , could be the gym equipment...keep away from there !!
@happypat The 'gym' is in this one - Nigel not partaking.... http://365project.org/judithg/365/2011-04-09 You can just see it through the hail and in the middle is the gate to the hen area. It has a lovely rose around the arch but at the moment I can't imagine it ever being warm enough to flower again!!
Think you might be needing that coat. Love the snow/hail - it hailed sporadically here too, interspersed with lovely sunshine.
I'm sorry, I know I'm a bad person, but the idea of Monty scaring a miniature dachshund did raise a smile.
What a day! By the look of the shot, maybe you wish you had stayed indoors?! (Surely the owners knew that the miniature dachsie would react like that? Don't think you should feel too guilty.)
Goodness! Is that rain or hail? Don't you just wish we could have some normal spring weather?! Have a lovely 365 meet up tomorrow :o)
Judith, thankyou for your help with the camera biz. I have decide after speaking with you, Dominique and Johanna and doing some further research, to go for the D600. The only question now is whether I should get it on credit card or wait until I've been paid ;o) xx
I love this photo. It's so atmospheric. And this particular shot looks much as my entire day and night did yesterday. I never saw so much rain. I thought all the roads would wash away. And sadly, I was out in it though I had a nice time with my cousin. Really wonderful photo. Fav.
@judithg I remember this picture of your garden so well...I thought it looked so fabulous , if I'm right I think it was very soon after I started following you! New Pope tonight too...i like his name!
Now that is something I don't miss about England. It may have been almost unbearably cold here but a least there's not the days on end gloom! Hope all is well with the doggie - weird place to keep it though.
I'm sorry for your rough day (I hope the doggie will be all right) but the horrible weather gave you an outstanding photo! Lovely soft tones to contrast with the harsh hail, and it's a beautiful garden and "office!"
Horrid snow storm but what a glorious sight behind closed doors......it has softened all the colours to a beautiful muted tone....stupid place to 'park' a dog, not Monty's fault at all......have fun with the meet up today!! and fingers crossed you won't need to wear the coat this 'spring'!!
What a nightmare of a day you have had, hope the dog recovers ok , hope you do not need your new coat much more this winter, hope the tooth pain gets better.
You've really captured the weather and atmosphere here. Looks like a 'get away from it all' kind of garden. Look forward to seeing it in the Spring/Summer!
p.s hope the dog is OK?

See him off Monty!! ;-)
