The housekeeper of a student hostel I once lived in was a crotchety old dear - I tried to sweeten her up one morning by admiring the magnificent magnolia outside the house. She said, 'Filthy old thing - drops its petals'. Well there's no helping some people! I think ours is still pretty even if we are tramping petals through the house.
Monty isn't well at the moment. He has hurt his neck and even with painkillers intermittently yelps and can't bend down to his food or pick up his beloved ball. He's spending a lot of time sitting on Nigel's knee with his head propped up to make it more compfortable.
Sorry if you've viewed the other photo - I've swapped it for this with better focus. Still not great but a nice sight to wake up to this morning.
I just adore the composition of this with the magnolia and the petals framing Nigel and poor Monty - an instant fav for me :). I find magnolias are among the most beautiful flowers but they really are short-lived. Well, all good things have to come to an end - hopefully bad things as Monty's aching neck will, too!
The flowers on your magnolia tree are really beautiful. Poor Monty, hope his neck gets better soon , its hard to see our pets suffer. Do you know what is causing it to hurt ?
@snowy No - it's intermittent and obviously he decided to look completely normal at the vet! He says he may be pinching a nerve but I think it may just be stiff - OK to move slowly but sudden movements hurt. He's not happy!
Judith, great composition, magnolia trees are so beautiful, but so delicate. Hope Monty is better soon, I can see him looking down the garden to see what his 'Mum' is up to :)...i bet he thinks 'oh no she's got that camera out again'...love those tulips under the tree too :)
Judith your garden looks so nice, I hope Monty feels beter soon, Cookie often has to go on pain medication on/off as she has bad back knees and it breaks my heart to hear her cry, so I know how hard it is for you.I also love when the petals/leaves fall, nature's carpet.
I love the way fallen petals look like pastel snowfall...guess some people don't see it that way. :) Love this beautiful view of your garden, Judith. It is simply gorgeous.
I see now what is ailing poor Monty. I do hope he is starting to feel a bit better. It appears that he is being kept quite comfortable while he makes a recovery. Those pulled muscles and/or pinched nerves can take a while to improve...if Monty plays his cards right and strings it out a bit it could mean quite a few lap sessions. :)
What a sweet shot!!! I love the tranquil feeling it has... With the sunlight, the cuddling family members on the porch, and the beautiful spring flowers, it's like a perfect scene of relaxation!!! Just beautiful...
@wac Thanks for your comments Wendy - I have been overwhelmed and amazed by the response to this shot - I'm so used to seeing our garden which is long but narrow and in need of some lawn therapy and generally rampaged over by kids and dog!! The tree is amazing of course (I would love to thank the person who planted it) but I don't think distance photos really do it justice. Still - it's been absolutely brilliant having such positive responses from people!
